South Africa 2018 summer tour
Wednesday 18 November 2020It was a major advance ahead of Rugby World Cup 2019™ when England travelled to South Africa for their 2018 summer tour.
They played three Test matches against the Springboks in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Cape Town in what was a major test of their credentials with only just over a year to go before rugby’s greatest event in Japan.
As one of the traditional powerhouses in world rugby, South Africa presented a major test of England’s development, particularly in hostile and rugby mad strongholds.
England coach Eddie Jones picked a side that mixed experience with rapidly developing options to widen his pool ahead of World Cup selection.
Jones transformed England’s hopes over the last two years as they travelled to Japan as one of the favourites. But first they got the better of the Boks on back-to-back weekends during summer.
