England Wins the Plate Final in the World Sevens Series in Hong Kong
Wednesday 18 November 2020England Rugby Travel guests celebrated a very special few days at the HSBC World Sevens Series in Hong Kong as England won the Plate Final.
Simon Amor’s team secured a 19-0 victory in the final over the USA and England fans played their part in the Final by cheering Amor’s team home.
Despite losing 14-5 to Australia in the Cup quarter-final, they ran out comfortable 33-0 winners over Kenya to meet the USA and the rest is history.
Dan Norton's try in the first half against Kenya was his 200th in the world sevens series - a landmark achievement for the flyer who also surpassed the 1000 point mark during the tournament.
"It's a very special place to come, the week's been a real journey for us and we've learned a lot," added captain Tom Mitchell.
This result leaves England in seventh place in the overall standings after disappointing legs in Las Vegas and Vancouver. They now head to Singapore next weekend with just three rounds left in the Series.
