Elliot Daly rescued England

Elliot Daly rescued England with a winning try four minutes from the end of a pulsating Test match to preserve England’s unbeaten run under Eddie Jones.

George Ford fielded Jonathan Davies’ long clearance kick and set off on an angled break before finding Owen Farrell. Farrell timed his pass perfectly, sending Daly on the outside of Alex Cuthbert and in at the corner to seal a wonderful victory for England.

This was an old-style Test match. Full of heroic commitment, thudding physicality and an edge of your seat drama. Wales will be heart-broken because they did enough to win the game.

They responded brilliantly after Ben Youngs had given England an early lead. They dominated the second quarter and went ahead when Liam Williams and Ross Moriarty linked to find Liam Williams on a burst to the try line to give Wales the lead.

Moriarty was outstanding and Wales hinted at a famous victory until the last knockings when Daly did the rest to rescue England and keep their Grand Slam hopes alive.
