Eddie Jones announces new England squad for RBS 6 Nations 2016
Wednesday 18 November 2020England’s new dawn has begun with a ‘Magnificent Seven’ new faces named in Eddie Jones’ first England squad.
Josh Beaumont, Jack Clifford, Elliot Daly, Ollie Devoto, Sam Hill, Paul Hill and Maro Itoje are the new names in Jones’ first 6 Nations squad as a new era begins for English rugby.
For the likes of Itoje, making a serious impression at Saracens and Elliot Daly, the siege-gun kicking outside centre from Wasps, it is justification of their club form as the England squad takes on a dynamic and fresh new look.
There is also a recall for winger Chris Ashton, who was not part of the Rugby World Cup squad. England begin their campaign against Scotland next month and Jones said:
“We have selected a squad of players who we think can go to Murrayfield and win. This is our number one priority, to start with a win, so we have picked a squad which is a mix of experience and potential.”
The squad is the first opportunity Jones has had to pave the way for England’s future – and he didn’t disappoint.
